Look Around!

Hosea 11:4
“I led them with cords of kindness, with ropes of love; I lifted the yoke from their necks and bent down to feed them.”

I love the picture in this verse. God is remembering how He lovingly cared for Israel, even when His people failed to appreciate Him. Imagine the God of heaven bending down to feed His children. Sadly, they soon forget who had been caring for them.

I wonder how often I’ve done the same thing.

We also can become so busy wishing for what we don’t have that we forget to appreciate what we already have.

Maybe it’s a familiar voice on the telephone. The laughter of a grandchild. A quiet morning with a warm cup of coffee. Someone who looks us in the eye and says, “I love you.”

These may seem like little things now, but someday we will look back and realize they were the big things.

Perhaps God has been bending down to bless us all along, and we simply haven’t noticed.

Don’t miss the blessings of today while waiting for the blessings of tomorrow.

Prayer: Father, help me recognize life’s simple blessings and treasure the love You show me daily. Amen.

I’m Lonnie Davis, and this is a thought worth thinking.
