Daniel 3:17-18
“If our God exists, He is able to deliver us… but even if He does not, we will not bow.”
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood before the furnace and said those remarkable words, they were threatened with death. What they said that day is a faith that doesn’t need a guarantee.
Job said it too: “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). And Habakkuk, staring at empty fields and empty pens, still said, “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD” (Habakkuk 3:18).
I’ve seen this kind of faith. My brother knew he was dying. From his hospital bed he told his doctors, “I want to go home before I go home.” He knew God might not heal him. He trusted God anyway, because for him, Heaven was his real home.
That’s the furnace test. Not whether God rescues us, but whether we still trust Him even if He doesn’t.
Prayer: Lord, You are able to deliver me. But even if You don’t, I’m still Yours.
