Revelation 2:21
“Even though I have given her time to repent of her immorality, she is unwilling.”
There is something touching about these words of Jesus: “I have given her time.” He was speaking about a woman who was leading others into sin. He knew what she was doing, but instead of punishing her immediately, He gave her time to change. Sadly, she was unwilling.
I wonder how many times God has shown that same patience with me.
We all have things we need to change. Maybe it’s a bad habit, an unkind attitude, or someone we need to forgive. We know what we ought to do, but somehow tomorrow always seems like a better day to do it.
But remember, God’s patience is not His permission. Just because He hasn’t punished us immediately doesn’t mean He approves. Every day God gives us is another opportunity to make something right. One day, those opportunities will be gone.
Don’t let tomorrow become your excuse for wasting today.
Prayer: Father, thank You for another chance. Help me change today what I should have changed yesterday.
