Psalms 121:1-2
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
In many stories of trouble and rescue, help usually comes from just over the hill. Trouble looks certain. And then, right at the last second, help rides in. Hollywood has made a lot of money with this plot.
For the believer, help does not always come from the usual places. It does not come from people, or timing, or the circumstances lining up in our favor. It comes from God above.
Help from over the hills can fail us. It can arrive too late, or not at all. Help from God never does. He is an on time God.
Therefore, when trouble surrounds you, do not lift your eyes to the hills. Lift your eyes higher still, to the One who made the hills and everything else.
Prayer: Lord, when trouble presses in, remind me to turn my eyes upward. Remind me that my help was never in the hills. It has always been in You.
