Watch your Complaint

Philippians 2:14-15

“Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world.”

One poet wrote:

“We mutter and sputter,
We fume and we spurt.
We mumble and grumble,
Our feelings get hurt.

We can’t understand things,
Our vision grows dim,
When all that we need
Is a moment with Him.”

The truth is simple: It is impossible to mumble and grumble all the time and then “Shine as lights in the world.”

A constant complainer cannot be a shining light to others.

A constant complainer can find the thorn in every rose bush.

A constant complainer and a grateful person are never the same person.

Constant complaining does not change the road, but makes the journey feel longer…and miserable.

As Paul urged us: “Do everything without complaining or arguing,” and “shine as lights in the world.”

I’m Lonnie Davis, and these are thoughts worth thinking.

Prayer: “Lord, help me to bright joy to those around me.”
