He Still Knocks

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.”

In Puerto Rico, I often live with a 19‑month‑old boy and a 3‑year‑old girl, along with their mom and dad. Those two little ones adore their grandad and his room. They especially love the cartoons I let them watch, and I’ll admit, I’m an easy touch. Sometimes I have to close my door.

A few days ago, I heard a soft knock and a tiny voice calling my name. I stayed quiet, and the calling stopped. Ten minutes later, my heart wouldn’t let me sit still. I opened my door to go find them, and there they were sitting on the floor, waiting beside my door..

I wonder how often we miss God’s blessing the same way. A door stays closed, and we assume nothing is there. Today’s verse reminds me that Christ Himself stands waiting for us to open what we’ve kept shut. Great blessing is often just one opened door away.

Prayer: Lord, help me remember You are near, waiting for us to open the door to You.
