Psalms 5:3
“In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation.”
Before the noise of the day crowds in and before the to-do list demands attention, David prays. Prayer was not something he stumbled into when he felt like it. It was the habit of his life.
Consistency in prayer isn’t dry repetition. It’s how trust gets built over time. Friendship deepens through the small, ordinary act of showing up again and again. Our relationship with God deepens the same way. One morning of prayer won’t transform a life. A thousand mornings will.
My favorite thought from this verse is “wait in expectation.” After David prays, he waits on the Lord. He expects good things to happen.
A Christian should not expect things to turn out badly, provided he has done two things: 1. Everyday, lay your plea before the Lord, and 2. Wait with expectation, because you know how things will turn out with God.
Prayer: Lord, meet me in the morning. Teach me to lay my burdens at Your feet.
