James1:22

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” 

According to this verse, hearing is not the finish line. It is only the starting point.

Many folks gather truth like trinkets in a drawer. We collect verses, sermons, and insights, yet never let them move our hands or feet. That is where deception creeps in quietly. We feel informed, so we assume we are transformed.

Faith was never meant to stay in the head. Faith does something. It shows up in patience with a spouse, honesty at work, and with kindness to a stranger. When truth is heard but not lived, it fades into background noise. But when we obey what God has shown us, faith changes us.

Let the word you hear become the life.

Prayer: Lord, let me not just hear Your word but live it.

Revelation 21:21

“The main street of the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.”

Today’s thought is a little different, but I hope it makes you smile…and think. 

A story is told about a wealthy man who died. When the angels came to take him to heaven, he insisted on bringing his gold. At first they refused, but finally they allowed him to carry one bag.

When he arrived, the angels gathered around. They had never seen anyone bring a bag into heaven. Curious, they looked inside, smiled, and asked, “Why did you bring pavement?”

That little story captures the wonder of our verse today. On earth, people spend their lives chasing gold. In heaven, gold is simply what you walk on. Heaven is so glorious that its ordinary things make earth’s greatest wealth seem insignificant.

Prayer: Lord, Help me live for the eternity that I get to spend with you.
