Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep the mind in perfect peace, when it is fixed on You, because it trusts in You.”
There is a phrase tucked inside this verse: “perfect peace.” In the original Hebrew, the phrase is actually a repetition, “shalom shalom.” Peace, peace. The Hebrew language often doubles a word not for redundancy but for emphasis, the way we might say “through and through” or “over and over.” God isn’t offering a diluted peace, a peace with an asterisk. He’s offering peace layered upon peace, the kind that doesn’t crack under the pressure of bad circumstances, because it was’t built on circumstances in the first place.
Notice what the verse does not say. It doesn’t say God removes the uncertainty. It doesn’t promise Isaiah’s readers a clear five-year plan or an easy road ahead. In fact, this word was written to a nation facing the threat of invasion and leaders who couldn’t be trusted.
Where does the peace come from,? The peace hinges on one small word: “because.” “You will keep the mind in perfect peace… because it trusts in You.”
Trust is not the reward for peace, It’s the source of peace.
Prayer: Lord, when my mind spins toward uncertainty, anchor my trust in You alone.
