Luke 15:4
“What man among you with a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open field and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?”
There’s a lesson in this story that might surprise you. A shepherd with a hundred sheep loses one, and he leaves the ninety-nine to go after it. Jesus tells this story to make a point about God that goes against every instinct we have. It is about our own value and worth. In God’s eyes, the one who is lost doesn’t matter. The lost one matters as much as the other ninety-nine.
This is the meaning of the parable. God does not relate to us as a crowd. He relates to us as person. When you feel lost, distant from Him, or unimportant, this verse answers you.
You are important to Him. You are the one He leaves everyone else to find. You matter!
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeking me when I wander. Keep drawing me home.
