Matthew 21:19
Seeing a fig tree by the road, Jesus went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. “May no fruit ever come from you again!” He said. And immediately the tree withered.
Read this verse and ask yourself, “What is the point?” Here it is: The fig tree looked promising from the road. Green leaves, full branches, every sign of life and fruit. Jesus came close expecting fruit. He found nothing.
That’s the danger of leaves without substance. We can build a life that looks full of faith: church attendance, kind words, a familiar routine. But up close it fails. Is there real fruit? Is there love that costs something. Patience that holds under pressure. Generosity that isn’t for show.
Appearance without fruit cannot feed anyone. James said, “Show me your faith by your works.”
Ask yourself, “What does your fruit look like up close?’

Suggested Prayer: Lord, let my life bear real fruit and not just leaves.
