The Running Father

Luke 15:20.

“And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.”

The journey home can feel heavier than the journey away. Why? Because returning means facing what we fled, naming what hurts, and risking love again. Yet God sees every hesitant step, even from afar. He runs toward us before we can finish our rehearsed speech, beginning restoration long before we feel worthy of it.

Home isn’t earned; it’s received. The moment we turn, even slightly, we discover the Father has already closed the distance. He is running toward us. His embrace interrupts our shame, and reminds us that coming home is not a test but a welcome. He saw. He ran. He embraced.

I want that hug!

Suggested Prayer: Father, no matter how far I stray, give me courage to come home. Help me remember that Your love will meet me on the road.
